Protecting your children probably comes naturally to you, but sometimes your home might present dangers that you didn’t expect. For example, you probably didn’t think that your child would come up with the idea to stuff metal objects into wall receptacles, but this is a possible danger. It could be that they are fascinated with seeing how these receptacles are used by the adults in the family, and they want to imitate that.

Some choose to put plastic caps in the receptacles, but these won’t always cut it. A better option is to have tamper-resistant receptacles installed. While this is a greater expense, especially if you get them installed by an electrician, you can’t really beat the security they give.

Tamper-resistant receptacles will not allow anything to be inserted if the pressure is uneven. They are made to prevent children from inserting something and causing harm. This way the receptacles can still be used without much effort for adults while providing safety for children.
