Your siding is there for a twofold purpose. It keeps the elements out, and it makes your home look good.
Of course, there are many different types of siding that do a decent enough job on one or both of those fronts, but there are some that are exceptional on both.
Steel siding used to be chosen mostly for commercial buildings, both because of the unaesthetic way it looks and for the high durability it offers. Lately, however, steel siding has gained in popularity, both because of a drop in price, as well as, the addition of a variety of styles that are very appealing.
If you decide to install steel siding, you will have two methods of rust prevention to choose from. Your choice will probably be based on what the siding might get exposed to.
Galvanized steel would not be used near an ocean, since salt water can damage it.
Stainless steel, on the other hand, shouldn’t be installed near a pool, since chlorinated water is damaging to the steel.
